Teun A. van Dijk taught literary theory and discourse studies (tekstwetenschap) in the Dept of General Literary Studies (Algemene Literatuurwetenschap) at the University of Amsterdam from 1968 to 1999, first as lecturer, and since 1980 at a personal chair of Discourse Studies, the first in the world. He retired from the University of Amsterdam in 2004.

Discourse Studies until 2023.
